Failures

The Failures page lists deliveries that ended without arriving, and lets you send them again one at a time or in bulk. A delivery that is still being retried is not here; it appears only once ramzes has stopped trying.

The Failures page with nothing to show: every delivery either arrived or is still being retried.
The Failures page with nothing to show: every delivery either arrived or is still being retried.

A delivery is listed when it is in one of two states:

State Meaning
failed The service answered in a way that retrying would not fix, so ramzes stopped at once.
gave up Every attempt failed and the retries ran out. The error starts with “gave up after N attempts:”.

Which answers count as which, and the retry schedule, are in Delivery and retries.

Two limits apply to the list:

  • It shows the newest 200 failures.
  • A failure disappears once a later delivery of the same notification to the same connection exists. So sending a failure again removes it from this page, whether or not the new delivery succeeds; if the new one fails too, that one is listed instead.

The list reloads whenever a delivery finishes.

Column What it shows
(checkbox) Selects the failure for Send selected again.
Failed When the delivery ended.
Event The title of the event that opened the notification, linking to the event’s page.
Route The route that produced the notification.
Connection The connection it was sent to, or “a deleted connection”.
Error The last error recorded, or “No error was recorded”.
Attempts How many attempts were made.
State failed or gave up.

Click a heading to sort by it. The list starts with the most recent failure first and shows 25 per page. On narrower screens the route, connection and error move under the event’s title.

  • The search box (“Search event, route, connection or error”) keeps the rows that contain every word you type.
  • The menu beside it starts at Any error and lists each distinct error text with the number of failures that share it, the largest group first. Choose one to see only those failures. This is the quick way to pick out everything that failed for one reason, such as an expired token.
  1. Tick the failures to send again. Select all N ticks every failure the search and the error menu currently list, across all pages, not only the page in view.
  2. Press Send N selected again.

For each selected failure ramzes queues a new delivery of the same notification to the same connection and destination. The page then reports “Queued N deliveries to send again.” The failed delivery and its attempts stay in the event’s history; open the event to see both.

Sending again does not re-evaluate routes and does not change the message’s target. If the cause was a wrong URL or an expired credential, fix the connection under Connections first. To send an event to a route that did not exist when it arrived, use Run through routes again on the event’s page instead.

A single delivery can also be sent again from the event’s page or the notification’s page, with its Send again button.
